He was born August 16, 1966, in Burlington, Iowa, to Earl Dean and Betty Jane (Stroh) Cooper.
The family moved from Burlington to Sedalia Mo, then to Independence where he attended middle and high school. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1984.
He began working at Richards BBQ in Independence, Missouri then Torre’s Pizza in Westport. He never lost his passion for BBQ as he continued sharing his knowledge with family and friends. He enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
On July 15, 1993, he married Yvonne Galvan in Kansas City, Kansas. From this union they were blessed with 2 daughters. His family was his world.
He began working at Suburban Lawn and Garden. From work experience he developed an interest in irrigation systems. He then started his own company Ariah’s Landscape and Irrigation/ Stephanie’s Oasis.
His interests and hobbies included baseball, camping, grilling, canoeing, swimming, and golfing.
Preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by wife Yvonne, daughters; Ariah Chloe Cooper-Brown, Stephanie Marie Gloria Cooper. Sisters; Julia Anne Cooper Lauer, Emily Kathryn Cooper Keough. Nieces; Kathryn Anne Ballew, Erin Nicole Foley.
Services for Stephen will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd.,
Independence, MO 64050. Visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM with committal service following in Oak Ridge Cemetery, 18301 E. Salisbury Rd., Independence, MO 64056.
