Bob was born in Marshall, MO to parent Mary Louise (nee Garrison) and Lloyd Cort on November 26th, 1945. He attended William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO and graduated Kansas College of Automation in 1966. He then attended Chrysler Corporation Certification School and was certified mechanical technician for a number of years. He retired from Zurich North America, located in Overland Park, Kansas. Then, he became an insurance adjuster in the automotive division.
Bob was an accomplished photographer and even owned his own business for a number of years in Independence. He loved race cars, building many and owning many over the years. Bob also loved motorcycles, boats, and fishing. He loved to travel when his health was good. Bob was a big reader and loved science fiction books and photography books. He collected many books on the subjects and a large collection of photography equipment, old and new. Bob liked to do projects around the house and could paint, wallpaper, build and fix anything. He always had a project he was working on. Bob was the guy all of the family and friends called when they needed help on their own projects.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Louise (nee Garrison) and Lloyd Cort, and his brother Larry Cort.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Nelda Cort, children Robert Cort and Cynthia Hindsley. Robert is additionally survived by his brother Steve Cort. Bob is also survived by grandchildren Tamilyn K. Cort, Ryan S. Cort, Sarah A. Cort, and his great-grandchildren, Sophia Cort, Elaine Cort, and a baby girl on the way in April.
A visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm with a celebration of life to follow at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel, 509 S NOLAND RD, INDEPENDENCE, MO 64050.
