She was born on June 11, 1931 to Bert Bowman and Elizabeth Bowman (Parsons), in Kansas City, MO.
She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City in 1948, followed by business college. Following college, she worked for Katz Drugs, TWA, AT&T, Commerce Bank, housewife and farmhand. June and Gene got married August 7, 1959, from this union a daughter, Michelle was born January 16, 1961. June and her husband loved to travel to Colorado Springs, New Orleans, Gulf of Mexico and many trips to the lake. She loved to garden and grew lot's of juicy tomatoes that she shared with her friends.
They lived in Independence for several years before moving to Buckner, from Buckner they picked up and relocated to Warrensburg where they spent 40 years on a 100 acre farm with cattle, pigs, ducks, chickens, peacocks, cattle dogs, a Jack Russell, a Lab, a Beagle, a Newfoundland, and a Yorkie Poo, the only thing she refused to do was milk cows!
She volunteered at the Warrensburg Senior Center as well as the Buckner Fire Dept. as a part-time dispatcher and started the first Red Cross Chapter in Buckner.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband; Gene Countess, daughters; Michelle (Ed Johann) Countess, Cheryl Noel, Irene (Rick) Schilling, four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Services will be on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the White Rose Pavilion 107 Ming St., Warrensburg, MO., 64093 from 2-4pm.
