“Kay” Catherine Bauer née Vetter, born on August 5, 1953, embraced the beauty of life until she peacefully departed on November 16, 2023. Kay was a wife, mother, sister, and friend known for her ornery sense of humor, whose presence touched the lives of many.
A devoted gardener, Kay found solace and joy in cultivating beauty from the soil. Her green thumb transformed her garden, reflecting her nurturing and creative spirit. Kay cherished gathering with friends and family for special occasions and game nights, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.
Kay had a special affinity for animals and could never turn away an animal in need. Her home was always filled with the warmth of love, whether from her pets or the many friends who felt like family. Kay's heart and home were open to all, especially her "adopted" kids—individuals she embraced as her own, extending her love and support to any who needed it.
An ardent advocate for veterans, Kay retired from the Veteran’s Administration after many years serving those who served our country. Her commitment to making a difference in the lives of veterans left an indelible mark, and her compassion and empathy were a source of comfort to those she assisted.
Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Victorine Vetter, her brother Edward Vetter, sister-in-law Judy Vetter, sister Barbara Vetter, and sister Joann Pollard. Kay is survived by her husband Alan Bauer, her daughter Cory Bauer, and son-in-law James Jack. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Vetter, and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward the love and wisdom she shared with them.
In celebrating Kay's life, let us remember the vibrant spirit that she brought into the world, the seeds of kindness she planted. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Kay's life will be held December 2nd, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel (509 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050), where family and friends can gather to share stories and support one another. A repast will follow at the family’s home. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Wayside Waifs or Veteran’s Community Project in Kay's name.
May Kay's laughter echo in our hearts, and may her memory be a blooming garden of love that continues to grow in the hearts of all who knew her.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nolandroadchapel.com for the Bauer family.
