Hyannis – Sharon Ann (Tobey) Kennedy passed away on June 20, 2022. Born August 19, 1948 to the late Edgar and Cecelia Tobey. She was a proud member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and served on the Elders Council for several years. She was a professional hairdresser throughout the Hyannis area, most notably known for working at Procuts for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army cutting hair for the homeless and giving them a sense of self-worth and dignity. In addition to her accomplishments, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant taking care of the elderly. She was a vital part of the movement to bring affordable housing to Cape Cod and was placed in the local newspaper several times in the early 1970’s for her tireless, compassionate advocacy. Sharon was a proud Democrat and would campaign and discuss politics with vigor, while advocating for the underserved living on Cape Cod. She was well traveled and moved off Cape several times only to return to raise her family. Her style and sense of humor was one that only Sharon could possess.
She is survived by her loving daughters Kimberly Canto of Wareham MA and Nikkisha Kennedy of Hyannis, MA; her grandchildren David Gonsalves, Jr., Riccardo Kennedy, Johnathan Biggs, Raina Leanne Kennedy; her brother Marty Tobey; sisters Cecelia Gomes, Norene Smith, Vanessa Mendes, Michelle Tobey, Laura Miranda, and Stephanie Roderick, and many nieces and nephews; special friend Joanne Brito.
She was predeceased in death by her siblings Edgar Tobey, Ellery Tobey and Debra Debarros.
