Rose Isabelle (Hayward) Capelle, 93, formerly of Hyannis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. Capelle, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage until his passing in 2000.
Born in West Bridgewater on May 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie Hayward. Rose was raised in Bridgewater and later moved to Worcester where she raised her family with her loving husband. She and her husband moved to Cape Cod in the early 70’s where they lived their life out until retirement.
Rose waitressed at the Wursthaus Restaurant for many years. During the 80’s she was a baker at Barnstable High School, continuing her passion to be involved with the community. She also worked for Augat, Inc. in Mashpee, and was the proud owner of “Rose’s Specialty Cakes” on Cape Cod for many years. Rose was a proud member of the former Sons of Italy Lodge, Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association from 1982-1992, and the Coast Guard Women's Auxiliary.
In her younger years, Rose liked to go camping, fishing, and Ham Amateur Radio. She was an avid New England Patriots fan, loved cooking and baking. Above all, her most cherished time was spent surrounded by those she loved, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose never missed a family gathering.
Rose is survived and will be deeply missed by her son David and his wife Joanne; seven grandchildren, Dave Capelle, Jr., Lisa Potenti and her husband Bob, Anthony Capelle and his wife Heather, Margaret Harrington and her husband Paul, Laura Capelle and her husband Peter, Katherine Esch and her husband Tom, and Pamela Ingersoll; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Hayward. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Capelle, her son Anthony Capelle, Jr., and daughter Marie Capelle.
Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, October 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19th at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 11:15 a.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
