Robert J., “Bobby” Williams, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Newton, passed in the comfort of his home with his beloved wife of 45 years, Lisa M. (Fiorentino) Williams by his side on January 29, 2024. He was 75 years old.
Born in Boston, son of the late Olga Madison and son-in-law of the late Winnie and Sam Fiorentino, Bobby was raised in Dorchester and Roxbury. He was a former resident of the Thompsonville section of Newton and a full-time resident of West Yarmouth since 2012. A lifelong truck driver, Bobby was a former employee of the City of Newton Highway Department and Waste Management Department, G & S Paper Company, and for the past 10 years was a summer employee of the Town of Yarmouth Parks and Recreation Department. He was a proud member of the Sons of Erin Cape Cod for the past 16 years, serving 2 terms as the Vice-President.
Bobby was a working man's-working man, truck driver, laborer, true blue collar and proud of it - the backbone of America - and a constant rock in all our lives. He enjoyed the simple things in life - worked hard, enjoyed friends & family and loved just relaxing at the end of the day on the deck - in the sun listening to music, grilling & having a cold beer or two (or more) with friends and family.
A devoted & loving husband to Lisa – his wife of 45+ years… they enjoyed traveling together to beautiful sunny locales and enjoying each other’s company and the company of the many friends they made in their travels…who are friends to this day. He was the love of her life and she was his. He was a proud dog daddy to his boy “Bubba”.
A loyal & loving & supportive friend - no matter how long you were his friend – 25 minutes or 25 years… he was always there being present, supportive & protective of his people. He truly was the guy who’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it – figuratively and literally. The GREATEST dancer!! All the girls wanted to be his partner… and he’d dance with them all! A superb off-color joke teller… and old jingle singer….(What’s the word?.. Thunderbird)
The toughest guy anyone knew but the biggest smush when it came to an animal .... He was a listener, such a great listener. Never wanted to be the topic of conversation, only to be part of it...and to make the person talking feel better if they weren’t. Always the rock, never wanting the credit.
His personality was just infectious. He was a “solid”. Once you met him, you would gravitate toward him for a great talk with a couple of pints … or just to get a hug when you were passing by..he was the most excellent hugger.
It’s hard to think of the world without him – a huge gaping void … but we know he’s watching us.. and possibly making fun of us… and that’s ok 😊
Bobby was the father of Robert “BJ” Williams, Joe Williams, and the late Joanne Williams; papa of Justin Dateo, Amanda Simson, and Bobby Williams; great-grandfather of Isabella Dateo and Mac Simson; brother-in-law of Ronnie and Mark Fiorentino.; and uncle of Brian, Stephen, David, and Gregg Fiorentino.
