Robert Edward Johnson

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 19, 1929 to Norman and Marie Johnson. He grew up in Jamaica Plain. A 1948 graduate of Jamaica Plain High School, he went on to attend Northeastern University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served proudly from 1951-1953. He was employed at ITEK Corporation for over 20 years where he was involved in the hardware development, fabrication, and the testing of the Lander Camera System flown and operated successfully on Mars Mission 76’ Viking Landers 1 & 2. After retiring, he continued working in electronics with his own business Digiline Arrowsystems. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 54 years, volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital, and worked with the homeless. He was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed his bus trips to Foxwoods with his friends. Bob experienced many years vacationing in Florida, visits to Hawaii, and Canada. When Bob wasn’t traveling, he enjoyed his summer cottage in West Dennis.

Robert is survived by his wife Helen (Pitts) Johnson of 60 years whom he loved dearly and his sister Claire (Johnson) Sullivan of Weymouth . He is survived by his 4 daughters, Paula Ferullo and her husband Charles of Marstons Mills, Donna Johnson of Winter Haven, Florida, Darlene Anthony of Dennis and Carol Cifelli of Merrimack, NH; In addition, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and his 10 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased his brother Paul Johnson and his Marie Lowther.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 at Doane Beal & Ames located at 160 West Main Street, Hyannis Massachusetts. Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 25 at 10 am at Our Lady of Victory in Centerville, Massachusetts. The burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Massachusetts.
