Paul was born in West Roxbury, Massachusetts and spent much of his young life there. He joined the Navy in 1970 and became a decorated Vietnam-era veteran during his two years aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. After his time in the service, he worked as an engineer, spending his entire professional career at Thermo Jarrell Ash. He married Paula Hardcastle in July of 1973 and the two enjoyed a vibrant family life that included summers on Winnisquam Lake and a warm, loving home on Penni Lane. He was an especially proud father to two sons, Jeffrey and Gregory.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Paula, whose courage and grace in the face of Paul’s difficult medical history remains an inspiration to her friends and family. He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law – Jeffrey and Erin, and Gregory and Emily – and three adorable grandchildren: Megan, Paige, and Evan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halleck Creek Ranch, an organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities live a life without barriers through equine-assisted activities and therapeutic horseback riding. Both of Paul’s granddaughters have spent time at the ranch and it remains an important part of their lives, https://halleckcreekranch.org/donate/
Donations may also be made to Jeff and Erin’s fundraising efforts with The American Heart Association, which sponsors stroke and heart disease research and which supports poor communities and communities of color that are disproportionately affected by these illnesses, https://bit.ly/3j78dCi
