Marilyn Hayes Snow, of Hyannis, Massachusetts, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2018. Marilyn was born in Hartford, Connecticut on March 7, 1925. She was the daughter of James and Frances (Quaile) Hayes. Marilyn grew up in West Hartford, where she attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy. She enjoyed spending her summers at White Sands Beach in Madison, Connecticut. Marilyn earned her B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education at St. Joseph College, also in West Hartford. After graduation, she became a kindergarten teacher at The Burns School.
During a trip to Hyannis with her parents, she met Arthur Snow, a Wellesley, Massachusetts native, who had moved to Cape Cod and happened to work at the cottage community, Sundial Village, where she was staying. They married in 1950 and Marilyn became a full-time homemaker and mother of four children.
She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church for over 70 years. Marilyn was a member of their Women’s guild and a Eucharistic Minister at the Cape Cod Hospital for many years.
Marilyn loved to swim and was a member of the YMCA in West Barnstable for several decades. She cultivated many friendships with her classmates in the Fit ‘n Swim class, and continued to meet them for lunches year-round, after she was no longer able to attend class on a regular basis.
Marilyn was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle aficionado.
Most important to Marilyn was her family; she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the center of every gathering and will be missed terribly by everyone who loved her.
She is survived by her children: James and his wife, Laurie, of Scarborough, Maine; Sandra and her husband, Edward, of Pawling, NY; Carol Anne and her husband, Lee, of Dover and Marstons Mills, MA; and Christopher and his wife, Jane, of West Barnstable, MA. She is survived by several grandchildren: Bryan Bollen of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; Daniel Snow of Naples, Florida; Benjamin Snow and his wife, Anna, of Windermere, Florida; Michael Snow and his wife, Clota, of Topsham, Maine; Matthew Tesconi of Dover and Marstons Mills, Ma; and several great-grandchildren: Zoey and Sydney Snow of Topsham, Maine and Jack and Ava Marilyn Snow of Windermere, Florida.
