Gregory Scott Pulfer was born on December 11, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away on December 12, 2019 following a brief illness, at the age of 60. He was the son of the late Richard A. Pulfer and late Phyllis J. Pulfer (Hill), and brother of the late Jeffrey A. Pulfer. He leaves behind his sisters, Terri Hill and Susan Bozkurtian, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his many friends, housemates, and caregivers.
Gregory had a full life, marked by his resilience and positive attitude. At age 18 he suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car accident that left him initially without speech, memory, the ability to eat, or walk. Gregory was able to achieve a remarkable recovery due to his incredibly strong will and hard work, with the help of his family and many medical personnel. He remained grateful for all the expertise and attention he received during his years of recovery.
Gregory was very proud to be able to graduate from Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, NY following his recovery from his accident and was able to enjoy a fulfilling work-life in various industries. Most recently he retired following 14 years of employment at Stop and Shop in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Gregory was a beloved resident of the Community Support Associates group home in Hyannis, Massachusetts for the past 15 years, where he is remembered fondly for his Positive Mental Attitude and incredible kindness to others. Greg is described by friends as a ”kind and gentle soul”, a happy jokester and lover of people, whose “joyous engagement” with others was his greatest quality. He was always ready with an “infectious smile” and “easy manner” that he shared with all around him. Gregory’s “fortitude and patience” not only benefited himself, but others around him, as he loved sharing his knowledge of golf and readings with others in his life. He loved staying active and had a wide variety of interests, including golfing, swimming, bowling, reading, music, church and spending time with friends. Gregory was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers baseball team and wore his Tiger gear proudly throughout the years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life to be held on January 11, 2020 at the Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod, 2391 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable, Massachusetts at 12:30. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod or the Cape Symphony of Hyannis, Massachusetts.
