William was born on June 24, 1932 in Florence, AL to the late Malcolm M and Mary Anna (Ayers) Hannah. William is also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Hannah; 2nd wife, Dixie Hannah; and his 3rd wife, Jeannie Hannah; step-children, Linda Bishop and Terry Wise; and step-grandson, Robert Bishop.
William is survived by his son, Wayne Hannah; grandsons, Joseph (Brittney) Hannah and Michael (Carol Jones) Hannah; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hannah; great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Kaden Hannah; step-children, Mark (Pam) Firth, Lynne (Blake) Thomas, David (Jerri) Firth; step-son-law, Norman Wise; step-grandchildren, Demi and Marki Firth, Amy Blake, Kelsey Toepps, Nick Firth, Alex and Gregory Wise, and Justina (Donald) Dresson; step-great-grandchildren, Robert, Nicholas and Caleb Bishop, and Michael and Leon Dresson; and his 1st wife, Margie Rzepka. He is also survived by many other extended family and friends.
William proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he saw combat in Vietnam and Korea. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He received many medals for service including the Bronze Star with Combat V, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Second Class Staff Service Medal, and many more. After retiring from the Navy, William became a truck driver and drove for 20 years. He was a Navy Recruiter here locally and also was a member of the VFW Post 284 and American Legion Post 357. William also loved Top Notch, he practically went there every day for breakfast.
Visitation for William will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be the celebration of life service with military honors at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. William will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
In lieu of flowers donations in honor of William Roy Hannah may be made out to St Jude's Children Hospital, American Legion Post 357, or VFW Post 284.
