Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Smith, her son-in-law Ron Harrison, her parents, sisters Babbs and Betty and brother Buddy.
She is survived by her son Michael (Debbie) Smith, daughter Cindy Harrison, grandchildren Zach Smith, Shane Smith, Rachel (Jonathan) Ervin and Caroline Harrison, along with 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Born in Alpine, Alabama and raised on a farm in nearby Hollins with her siblings, her father Cecil, beloved grandparents Goldie and Pete, and aunt Jackie, Sue was a country girl at-heart. Nick-named 'Cricket' by her father, she loved bird watching, vegetable and flower gardening and all dogs. Sue was a talented artist who loved painting, sewing and crafting and enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband. Sue began her working career as a legal secretary and then trained to be a dental hygienist. She met her husband while attending a medical conference at a resort and convention center where he worked. They were married for 51 years. Sue was a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church, an avid homemaker and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She will be missed by all.
A Visitation for Sue will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama, 35811, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm in Valhalla's Celebration Chapel. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Smith's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
