If you remember CedarGap, Then you will also  remember the cousins, The Elmore’s,The Hudson’s,and The Damrons! We all grew up together for many, many, years along with our friends that lived in the Gap ! We had our own ball team tree house and had the time of our life! I really miss those days and everyone of them. I especially miss my favorite cousin and best friend Tubby! Thanks for the good times! You will be missed.Thanks for the memories!!! Brenda!

A special memory of Tubby is something few people probably realized was that Tubby had a big heart. He made monthly donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital as well as Cahaba Shriner's Hospital. He would get tears in his eyes talking about those kids. It touched me.

Me and Tubby were lifelong best friends  since before we started first grade at Central. Our mothers went to school together and our families camped together at Jordan river and Whitaker lake. His dad Billy took me to most of the baseball and basketball games we played in when we played T ball thru YMCA ball. For a small person Tubby could throw very hard. I caught a lot of balls in his parents backyard with a batting glove and catchers mitt and if i caught it in the pocket he lit my hand up. He had a wicked curve ball i had to know was coming. We won the county YMCA baseball tournament one year at Big Cove school. Our coach Terry Lee Martin loaded the team on a Central school bus to take us to see the Atlanta Braves and  Cincinnati Reds play. We got to see Hank AAron and Johnny Bench play, Tubby loved that. I still have the wooden Atlanta Braves bat i bought when we were there. We talked about that not long ago. We were hunting together when he shot his first buck. We just got in the woods and Tubby dropped an 8  pointer with his 30-30, that was the shortest hunting trip of my life. He was my bud across the highway and i do and will always miss him. God bless Tubby Joe. 

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Tubby. I went to school with him at  Central and Gurley.  I remember he played baseball and was a wicked left hand pitcher and a very fast runner.  He was always pleasant to be around. My condolences to the family.

We have been friends and neighbors with Tubby for16 years. He always lived life to the fullest.  Losing him is going to take a very long time to get over. Our thoughts and prayers to Adam and his family. The world has lost a good man
