Martha Jean (Jean) Vaughan, 90, of Huntsville Alabama, passed away on August 27, 2024. Jean was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee on May 23, 1934. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel F. Vaughan, her parents, Earl and Jessie Lee Gray, and her brother, William Gray. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lem G. Vaughan (Connie), Bob Vaughan (Diane), Bill Vaughan (Pam), grandchildren Bill Vaughan (Leigh), Jason Vaughan, Matt Vaughan (Kelsey), Adam Vaughan (Sarah), Joseph Vaughan, Daniel Vaughan, and six great grandchildren; sister Earlene Gordon (Jerry); and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and a retired teacher who taught Accounting and Business Education in Madison County School Systems for over 30 years. She was a strong supporter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) sponsoring many students in national and state competitions. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering at Huntsville Botanical Gardens, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a founding member of Good Shepherd Cumberland Presbyterian church and served as treasurer for many years.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and medical staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, Redstone Village Skilled Nursing and Amedisys Hospice of Huntsville for their excellent care and support.
You may visit with the family on August 30 at Valhalla Memory Gardens from 11:00 to 12:00 with services immediately following. Services will be officiated by Dr. Bobby Burt. Internment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jean’s honor to Amedisys Hospice Foundation or Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
