Edith Ray Brooks Stewart, 80 years old, peacefully passed away on November 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Elkmont, Al. Edie was born April 11, 1944, in Andalusia, AL to the late Clint & Verna (Saulmon) Brooks.
After High School graduation from Pleasant Home High School in Andalusia, she enlisted and served in the United States Navy. She met the love her life, Harry Allen Stewart and they were married on August 12, 1967. They both proudly served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary together.
Edie enjoyed sewing, quilting, boating, fishing and working jigsaw puzzles. She retired from the Madison County District Attorney Office after many years of service, proudly working as a clerk for Tim Morgan and the residents of Madison County.
Edie is survived by her husband; Harry, her daughter; Tempie Marie Pendley, granddaughter; Cynthia Ann Rodgers, sisters; Mary Ann Tomlinson (Nathan), and Tempie Powell, multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters; Dorothy Halford and her husband Jim, Mollie Joe Armstrong and her husband James, and brother in law; Stephen (Jerry) Powell.
A visitation for Edith will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
Following the visitation there will be a Graveside Service to be held with Military Honors in The Garden of Valor at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
