DOROTHY LEA HOLLAND February 13, 1932 – April 9, 2016 Dorothy Lea Holland, 84, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Holland was preceded in death by her parents, Hulon and Opal Adams Hopkins. Left to cherish her precious memory is her daughter, Janet (Sam) Appleton of Toney; 3 sons, James (Anne) Holland of Huntsville, Jerry (Carol) Holland of Owens Cross Roads, and Jay (Michelle) Holland of Fort Worth, TX; a brother, Donald (Audrey) Hopkins of St. Louis, MO; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends. Dorothy was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was a well respected nurse at Huntsville Hospital for over 27 years. Dorothy was a long time member at Trinity Presbyterian Church where she was quite active. She was passionate about helping others, from making dolls for pediatric patients, to feeding the needy. Dorothy received multiple honors, her proudest being the Greater Huntsville Faith Based Volunteer of the year in 2009. Dorothy Holland was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
