CHARLES HENRY AVERY November 2, 1933 – December 15, 2016 Charles Avery, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Meridianville on Thursday with his loving family by his side. Mr. Avery was preceded in death by his parents, E. W. and Hazel Adcock Avery; a brother, James Avery; and a sister, Betty Brockway. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Victoria Limbaugh Avery; his son, Alan Avery (Carrie) of Birmingham; his daughter, Vickie (Bryan) Manhart of New Market; a brother, Bobby Avery of Huntsville; 1 sister in law, Charita Avery; a dear family friend, Jason Balch; 4 grandchildren, Justin (Lydia) Avery, Austin Manhart, Tiffani (Bobby) Ross and Avery Manhart; 3 great grandchildren, Trey Ross, Levi Avery and Ava Claire Ross; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends. “Charlie”, as most friends called him, was a multi-talented man with a varied education and work career. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, a member of the Civitans Organization, and a long time member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He was a gifted builder, woodworker and craftsman and loved working with his hands. His public service included Huntsville Public Works, the Space and Rocket Center, and was most responsible for the building of the Space Camp for kids at the Center, along with his constant involvement with his beloved Church activities. Charlie Avery was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him! You may visit with the family at Valhalla Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 12:00Noon until 2:00PM. A funeral service, conducted by Pastor Todd Noren-Hentz will commence in Valhalla’s Chapel at 2:00PM.
