Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson Stephens Sr. and Rubie Cook Stephens; and sister Martha Gay.
Left to celebrate Jack's memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Stephens; one daughter, Cynthia Stephens of Huntsville and two sons, Paul Stephens of Huntsville and Thomas Stephens of Greenville, SC; a sister Margie Keys of Decatur AL; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Jack served in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and later studied at Auburn University to earn a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Jack was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers as a Mechanical Engineer and earned a Professional Engineer License granted by the National Society of Engineers. Because of his professional accreditations and keen sense of detail, Jack worked on many critical engineering projects both domestic and abroad. However, Jack's personal accomplishments far outweighed his professional accomplishments.
Jack devoted his life to his family. He was a quiet man by nature and the love for his family was very profound.
Jack had a living will and did not want artificial means to sustain his life. During his illness, Jack maintained his dignity and pride with great inner strength. Jack's life did not end with his death; remaining family members will carry on his legacy of love, strength, and dignity!
