Kay A. Ratcliff, 88 of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his residence. Kay had worked for over 35 years at General Electric in Fort Wayne. After an early retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and purchased the Roanoke Village Inn, which he then operated for over 15 years. Kay was a 1953 graduate of Adams Central High School. He then served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960. Kay was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160, a 50 year Mason and was a member of the Wayne Lodge No. 25; he was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine. Kay was an avid IU Basketball fan and loved to play dominos with family and friends.
Kay was born on March 11, 1935 in Preble, IN, a son of Ora and Ireta (Shoaf) Ratcliff.
He was united in marriage to Patti Schlatter on March 3, 1979 in Woodburn, IN. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Tina (Steven) Byerly of Wabash and a son: Barry (Tammy) Ratcliff of Decatur; three brothers: Vernon (Mary Ann) Ratcliff, Gene Ratcliff and Lynn (Helen) Ratcliff; a brother-in-law: Norman Young. Five grandchildren: BJ Ratcliff, Stefanie (Brian) Bassett, Brandy (Bret) Grover, Ashley Bumgardner and Brooke (Adrian) Bermudez; Eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Aleta and grandson Matthew.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 3416 E. 900 N., Roanoke, Indiana, with Pastor Shayne Jonker officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will take place at the Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke.
