Maureen lived a life characterized by love, fortitude, and devotion to her family. Her home was always open to anyone in need of comfort. She possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved, special and valued, a gift that endeared her to all who knew her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Maureen will remember her tenacity, warmth, grace, and elegance. Throughout her life she had a series of careers from being a Bell Telephone Operator, Cosmetologist, and Social Worker. But her greatest achievement was her journey to become a college professor.
Maureen grew up in Bever Falls, PA with brother, John P., sister, Kathleen Anne, first cousin, Mary Anne, and parents, John W. and Mary Corcoran (née Murphy). As a steel town in Western PA, women were discouraged from attending college. But Maureen’s sights on a college education never wavered. At the age of 40, with the support of her loving husband and family, she went to Montgomery County Community College (Montco), then Chestnut Hill College for a bachelors, and eventually graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. After working at the Women’s Shelter for several years, she went back to the start of her journey, only this time she was a professor.
Maureen's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her son, Mathew Rose, MD MS, and extended family members who will carry her legacy of love forward. She preceded in death her husband, Robert Rose, who joined her in eternity just a day after her passing.
Maureen's presence in our lives was a precious gift, and while we mourn her absence, we celebrate the beautiful memories she left behind and the lives she touched so profoundly.
A visitation is scheduled for 10AM on March 21st, 2025, at Lamb Funeral Home located at 101 Byberry Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006, followed by a funeral service, and interment with her husband at Shalom/Forrest Hills Cemetery.
