John “Jack” C. Fritsch, age 88, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by his side on April 4, 2022. He was born on April 4, 1934, in the Juniata section of Frankford, Philadelphia, to the late Charles L. Fritsch and Helen M. (nee Gleeson) Fritsch.
Jack graduated from Frankford High School in 1952, and shortly after acquired an associate degree from Community College of Philadelphia. He then went on to establish a career with Bell Telephone, where he worked for many years as a linesman, inspector, and repairman. Jack also served with the United States Army as an MP between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was briefly stationed in Germany where he famously recalls meeting Elvis Presley. After his marriage to Joan, the two lived in Albuquerque, NM while Jack completed the remainder of his service. At the end of his service, they moved back to the Mayfair section of Philadelphia to start a family.
Jack was a lifetime member of the Delaware Valley Model A Ford Club. Along with Joan, they spent many years socializing and touring with friends from the club. They were also known for hosting infamous parties with their Cottage Street friends.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan (nee Wood) Fritsch, his brother, William R. Fritsch, sister, Helen M. (nee Fritsch) Hartley, and his daughter, Cathy A. Fritsch. He is survived by his sons: William R. Fritsch, Thomas C. Fritsch, and John D. (Kim) Fritsch, his daughters, Barbara J. (Tony) Zampirri and Lisa A. (Dennis) Elmer, and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece and nephews.
What cannot be conveyed strongly or easily enough is the way in which Jack loved his family and friends. He was always interested in what everyone else had going on in their lives, checking in on his children, grandchildren, and friends, and always checking in on those that were sick. He is remembered for his warm heart, infectious laugh, and uncanny ability to create a pun from anything that would put a smile on anyone’s face.
He will be forever missed, never forgotten, and always loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Service on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 10-11AM at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA, 19006, followed by the Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery.
