Betty was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Dorety Sr. married 28 years, and the late Anthony J. Conway married 16 years. She was the loving Mother of Joseph A. (wife Virginia) Dorety Jr., Thomas P. (wife Catherine) Dorety, Candice A. (husband Joseph) Zachowski, Daniel F. (wife Frances) Dorety, Elizabeth A. (husband Warren R.) Sims Jr., Kimberly M. ( husband Don) Carignan, Mary K. McGauley – Ford, and Timothy E. (wife Kimberly) Dorety.
Her family includes twenty (20) grandchildren and nineteen (19) great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sister Patricia LaRoche, her many nieces and nephews, her dear friends at Victorian Towers and by all who knew her.
Betty graduated from Cambridge City Hospital in Massachusetts in February 1948 as a Registered Nurse. After meeting her future husband Joseph A. Dorety Sr., she relocated to Philadelphia, PA where she was employed at Temple Hospital and later retired from Northwood Nursing Home.
She was a former resident of Shenandoah Village in Sicklerville, NJ with her second husband Anthony J. Conway, before moving to Cape May, NJ where she resided at the time of her passing.
Betty loved the seashore and walking the Promenade in Cape May. She was a member of the prayer shawl knitting group and enjoyed socializing with her many friends at Victorian Towers where her nursing skills were frequently called upon by the residents of the Towers. Betty was an avid fan of the casinos and enjoyed playing the slot machines. She loved to travel and explore new places but had a special fondness for the New England area. Betty was most proud of being a mom, a grandmom, and a great-grandmom – a role she filled with unending love and great enthusiasm.
Relatives and friends are invited to participate in her Funeral Mass; Thursday June 26th, 2014; 11 am at St. Anselm Church 12079 Dunksferry Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Her Interment will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
