He was a long time resident of Philadelphia and Huntingdon Valley. He was born on March 29th 1938 to Dr. Louis Newman and Ruth Newman nee Auerbach. He graduated from Central High School in 1956 and went on to receive a BS from Temple University, an MD from Temple University School of Medicine and later a JD from Rutgers University. He also received two PhD degrees. One from Arcadia University and one from Widener University. For many years he was also an esteemed professor at Widener Law School teaching medical ethics.
From 1966 to 1968 he served in the US Army as a Captain/MD stationed in Japan where he treated gravely injured soldiers flown in from Vietnam. He also served as a physician in the Air Force Reserves in Willow Grove, PA.
Dr. Newman was an orthopaedic surgeon for many years and was widely known as an expert hand surgeon and hip surgeon. Once he received his law degree in 1983 he became well known as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sandra Sue Newman, his devoted daughter Marjorie Faith Newman, son Kenneth Todd Newman and daughter Pamela Blythe Barnett, three grandsons Grant Newman, Cole Newman and Heath Newman and one granddaughter Ariel Barnett.
He is also survived by four siblings, Michael Newman, Robert Newman, Jeffrey Newman and Sally Newman Ronon.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 11am at Shalom Memorial Park, 3573 Pine Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006
