Lena was born in Houston on April 21, 1930, to parents Sam and Mary (Gallerano) Marchese.
She attended All Saints Catholic School, Christ the King Catholic School (8th Grade), and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1948.
On December 2, 1950, she was married to Karl Wolff Sr., had two children, Karl Wolff Jr., and Karen Diane Wolff. The marriage ended October 30, 1972.
On December 13, 1980, she married Wilson Eugene (W.E.) Owens, after 38 loving years, he passed away on June 5, 2019. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Vito Marchese, and granddaughter Valerie Wolff. Also proceeding her in death was W.E. Owens daughter, Darlene Kurchak.
She is survived by her brother Theodore (Bud) Marchese, son, Karl E. Wolff, Jr. and wife Regina Wolff, daughter, Karen Diane McDonald, and husband Dr. Robert Emmett McDonald, four granddaughters and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by W.E. Owens sons, Charles Owens and wife Christina Owens, and Kenneth Savoy-Owens.
Lena and W.E. dedicated their lives to bringing Jesus’ word and message to prisons, motorcycle rallies and any place the Holy Spirit led them. Through ministries such as the ‘John 3:16 Prison Ministries’, Tribe of Judah Motorcycle Ministry and Christian Motorcycle Association, Lena and W.E. introduced God’s promise of salvation to those imprisoned, lost, or just hungry to hear His Word. From the Eastham Unit of the Texas Prison System to the motorcycle rallies in Sturgis, South Dakota, Lena and W.E. spread God’s word at every opportunity.
Lena’s lifelong passion was flowers. After surgeries to correct a birth deformity, Shriners Hospital helped her secure a place in the Benz School of Floral Design after graduation from Incarnate Word Academy in 1948. She excelled in her training and took her first job as a florist. While married and raising children, she arranged flowers for weddings, funerals, and on occasion, high school homecoming and prom corsages. In recent years, she provided hundreds of floral arrangements for hospice patients and Veterans bringing smiles and joy to their faces.
A visitation for Lena will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX. A eulogy service will be held from 5:00 PM to6:00 PM with a rosary service starting at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Monday, December 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at St. James Catholic Church, 22800 Aldine Westfield Rd, Spring, TX. A committal service will take place Monday, December 19, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Hugh Wilson Cemetery, 1075 Co Rd. 456, Tanglewood, TX 78947.
