The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1975. There they started the family business now known as All Star Construction where Dennis served as President for the last 23 years. Not only is All Star, as Dennis so proudly would note, a third generation run family business; The All Star Construction team is an extended part of the Haws family. Dennis valued and cared deeply for the individuals working alongside him.
Outside of work he kept busy with his hobbies and passions. Most anyone who knew him could tell you he was a Harley man who loved his bikes. It was more than a hobby for Dennis though. It was the friendships gained, the ones who have been there through all each-other's highs and lows through the journey of life.
Dennis spent a lot of his time fulfilling a self-assigned commitment to do for others. He was a man of integrity and a man of his word. Throughout his life he spent countless hours giving back to his family, friends, and community. He was happy to oblige his time, tools, and talents to anyone who asked.
Dennis still made time for his church. He spent time as the building and grounds chair and finance committee member and trustee. Several members of the church family became treasured extended family members for the Haws family.
Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Haws.
Dennis is survived by his father, Herbert Haws, his gorgeous wife of 20 years, Darleen Haws, his brother Russell Haws, his sister Pamela Frenchak, his daughters, Nicole Scerra (Chad), Angela Harper (Brandon), Ashlee Cutri (Ian), Leigha Thomas (Damon), Christie Walker (Cameron), Morgan Bell-Roberts (Peter), his grandchildren, Jacob, Madisyn, Ryan, Blake, Izzie, Jude, Adrianna, Zachary, Aubree, Isaac, Sawyer, Norah, Logan, Silas, Landon, great-granddaughter Journey, and countless extended family members and friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, potted plants be brought to the service so they maybe planted in the future. The family also invites Dennis' friends and loved ones to make donations in his name to the North Woods Baptist Church.
