It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Milks (nee Stead). She passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024 at the age of 95, in the Hull Hospital. Born in Montreal (Verdun), Quebec, Janet was the daughter of the late Jean and Lorne Stead.
She was the loving wife of the late William (Bill) Milks, and cherished mother and mother-in-law of Larry (Jill nee Legault), Michael (Robin nee Polson), Scott, Terry (Debbie Woods Milks) and Rick (Sheila McNally). Dearly loved grandmother of Carla, Jennifer, Andrew, Jack, Crystal and Sisha, and great grandmother to Blake and Kloé.
Janet was predeceased by her brother Bruce Stead and sister-in-law, Eileen Stead.
Janet grew up in Ottawa and after she and Bill were married, they moved to Lakeview Terrace in Aylmer where they raised their five boys (The Five Neat Guys). Along with being a very busy Mother, Janet worked as a volunteer in the library at the South Hull Elementary School in Aylmer. She later got hired on in the lunchroom preparing and serving meals to students and staff.
In their retirement, they moved to their cottage at Sand Bay, Quebec where they enjoyed many relaxing summers. They also spent numerous happy, warm and sunny winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, with their many snowbird friends.
Our family wishes to thank the staff at Château Symmes Retirement Residence in Aylmer, Quebec, for their kind care and support for Mom (affectionately known as “So So”).
In memory of Janet, a gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5-9 p.m. at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home 271, St Joseph Hull, Québec
Further information about the visitation will be available on the funeral home website.
