Eric Aldrich

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Eric Stephen Aldrich on November 22, 2024 at the age of 65. Eric was born in Ottawa on January 14, 1959; the only child of William (Bill) Aldrich and Elsie Dunn. Bill and Elsie, like Eric, were taken from this earth too soon. Eric missed them a great deal and always honoured their memory. We can take solace in knowing that they are now reunited.

Eric was an avid sports fan his entire life. He always had sports on the TV whether it was a hockey game or football. Eric loved the Boston Bruins and absolutely hated the Toronto Maple “Laughs”.

Eric was also a cat lover. He adored his cats Pluto and Pearl and always spoiled them with affection and treats.

Learning how to play the piano was something that Eric had always wanted to do, so during the pandemic he got himself a piano size keyboard and started lessons online.

He will be missed deeply by his partner of many years, Carol Beauseigle, his children Jodie and Jamie Lafontaine, sons-in-law, Brad Witham and John Fox; as well as his grandchildren that he adored and was so proud of, Jordan (Abigail) Witham and Kailey Witham (Michael Marshall). Eric is survived by his aunt Theresa (Aldrich) Daigle and uncle George Dunn and many Aldrich cousins, some of whom were like brothers and sisters to him especially his late cousin Rob Aldrich and his cousin Joyce Aldrich.

Eric also reconnected with many of his St Pius X High School friends and looked forward to their reunions and get-togethers at The Prescott. While Eric’s sudden passing has come as a shock to us all, he would not want us to dwell in sorrow. He would want us to remember the good times, share a laugh together, and raise a glass in his honour.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home, 271 Boulevard Saint-Joseph, Gatineau, Quebec on Saturday, December 7, at 1pm. Family will receive condolences at 12:30 pm. Following the memorial, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Eric’s life at Hotel Deschene, 52 Chemin Vanier, Gatineau, Quebec at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local SPCA or favourite animal charity.
