John Mitchel Moon, 88, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home in Turlock, California. Born In Plainview, Texas on September 21, 1926 to Evander Moon and Maggie Booher; he was the third to last youngest child out of 16 siblings and the last survivor.
John Moon was born in what is known today as the Greatest Generation. He grew up during the deprivation of the Great Depression, and then went on to fight in World War II. He served our country in the Navy. His bravery during WWII earned him Asiatic Pacific, American Area, Good Conduct, and a WWII Victory Medals.
He is survived by his 4 sons, RB Moon, Leo and spouse Lee Ann Moon, Steve Moon, and Greg and spouse Valerie Moon, 11 Grandchildren and 17 Great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alfreda Mae Moon.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday January 22, 2015 at 11:00am at Lakewood Memorial Park 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California 95326. Lakewood Funeral Home entrusted with arrangemenets.
Whatever John Moon was involved in, he made sure that it was done the right way. He never cut corners, and always made sure his work reflected that. His work ethic and commitment to his family will live on for generations to come. This quote from Henry Ford would be fitting for him since he was a FORD man, "Quality means doing it right when no one is looking".
