Jaye Delaine Gibbs December 31, 1937 - August 30, 2017 Jaye Delaine Gibbs, aged 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Hughson, CA while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Connie of 37 years. Jaye was born in New Castle, Indiana to Dezell and Dorothy Gibbs and was raised along with his older brother Ronald Gibbs in Richmond Indiana. He attended Richmond High School, Earlham College and Indiana University where he earned a BS degree in Botany. Jaye worked 20 years in quality control with the Aluminum Company of America. He simultaneously served four years in the US Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1966. During those four years, Jaye's three children were born. In 1980, he and Connie moved to California where he took a job with a subsidiary of E & J Gallo. During his years at Gallo he developed a connoisseur's taste for food and wine and became known to his grandchildren as "Pasta Papa". In his retirement he enjoyed running 5 & 10k races as well as the Big Sur marathon. He enjoyed golfing many beautiful courses and mountain biking with friends including two Ragbrai's across Iowa. Jaye and his wife shared many memories and trips including a mission trip to El Salvador where they shared their love of Jesus with the people they served there. Jaye is preceeded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife Connie Kay (Lamb) Gibbs; his children, Brian Gibbs, Lisa & Danny Newland and Lori & Ken Braden; his five grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob in Indiana and Nicholas & Caitlin, Daniel and Eli in California. It was a blessing that he met and held his first great grandchild, Chloe Jaye who was born just 14 days before his death and who was named in his honor. In his memory, friends and loved ones can make contributions to Community Hospice in Modesto, CA or to Centerville Christian Church in Centerville, Indiana. Services for Jaye will be held in Indiana.
