David Lawrence Dornan, 72, passed away March 16, 2012, peacefully at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California, after a brief, but valiant battle against cancer. Mr. Dornan was born in Turlock, California, on July 12, 1939. He attended Turlock High School, graduating in 1957. After high school, he served his country for two years in the United States Army. He then studied for two years at the Operating Engineers Trade School at Stockton Junior College and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #3 for 40 years. He was a longtime member of the Sierra Baptist Church in Oakdale, California and also attended Waterford Baptist Church in Waterford, California. Since 1968, Mr. Dornan was a member of the Summit Lodge Masons #112 in Knights Ferry, California. By trade, Mr. Dornan was a building contractor in Oakdale, California, and even in his free time he enjoyed building houses as well as fishing and traveling with his wife of 32 years, Betty Dornan.
Mr. Dornan is preceded in death by his son, David Dornan; his parents, Lawrence and Elsie Dornan; and a sister, Jeannette Murrell. Mr. Dornan is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Dornan of Casa Grande, Arizona and a sister, Dixie Irene Mortimer (Bill) of Riverbank, California. He is also survived by three daughters: Donna Dee Dornan Leza of Hartford, Connecticut; Jona Strickler of Roseville, California; and Judy Bostrom (David) of Pleasant Hill, California; and a son, Chuck Wilhoit of Cortland, New York. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Trever Raymond of San Diego, California; Brandon Wilcox of Roseville, California; Katie Wilcox of Roseville, California; Sierra Wilhoit of Cortland, New York; Kristi Rodriguez of Rock Island, Illinois; Nicole Leza of Rock Island, Illinois; Jamie Davalos of Modesto, California; and Zachery Wilhoit of Cortland, New York. He is survived by three great-grandchildren: Anthony Rodriguez and Andrew Rodriguez, both of Rock Island, Illinois; and Ella Wilcox of Roseville, California; and many nieces and nephews.
