Charles Gene Crawford

“Charles Gene Crawford, or “Chuck,” was born on January 25, 1939 in Marshall Texas to Hiawatha Crawford Sr. And Rosi Lee Crawford. He was the third oldest of 6 children. He moved to San Francisco, California in the late 40s and lived there until he moved to Modesto in 2006 to be closer to his growing grandchildren.

Charles Crawford was a Navy veteran. His favorite hobbies included cooking soul food and going fishing. He later became a butcher and acquired his own business “Chuck’s quality meats.” Chuck loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he enjoyed watching grow, until his final days here on Earth.

Charles was called home in Monday, June 14, 2021. Preceding him in death are his siblings: Hiawatha, Herman, John, and Barbara. He is survived by one living sibling: Ernest “Clifford“ Crawford, two children: Keith and Wanda Crawford, Grand children: Mar’Shawn Lane (Tachelle), Brandon Crawford, Kiana Raya (Enrique), Kayla Crawford-Carranza (Esteban), Keilani Crawford, Keith Jr, Kassidy, and Eli, Great Grandchildren: Natalia, Corinthian, Olivia, Oliver, Xzavien, and Brielle and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him and enjoyed his spirit.”

A chapel service for Charles will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California.
