February 15, 1930 – January 17, 2020
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Audrey was treasured and admired by all who knew and loved her –
Her children; Sharon, Dan, Doug (Nadia) and Sandi (Steve), her grandchildren; Alicia (Andrew), Tiffany (Lydia), Andrew (Jenna), and Matthew (Kaydee), and her great-granddaughter, Layla Rose.
She leaves behind her brother Ken and sister Denise, sister-in-law Eve, sister-in-law Gerry, brother-in-law Ray, and a multitude of nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. Her best friend, Gwen, and her family, also have wonderful memories of Audrey. The kids in the old neighborhood all have stories about “Mrs. J”.
Audrey was an adventurer from an early age, moving to America in 1950 to be married in St. Louis, MO, and begin her family. Next, with three children under 5, and pregnant with her fourth, they boarded a train headed to CA. She put down roots in San Jose, went on to become a single mother, joined the workforce at age 38, learned to drive at 40, raised children and grandchildren and Layla, and lived a very long and full life. Until the age of 86, she lived alone for the Spring and Summer months, in Arnold, CA, at 4000 feet in the Sierra Foothills. She loved the neighborhood and the neighbors, who always took care of each other.
She loved to read, paint, garden, and create beauty wherever she went. We will miss her wisdom, humor, guidance, creativity, and hearing her singing or whistling in another room. Most of all we will miss her love and hugs. She will remain in our hearts forever, until we can hug her again. Don’t worry Mom, we’ll be home before the street lights come on!
