William Giles Nolen

William G. Nolen (Bill) was born in Farmington, Arkansas on August 4, 1931 and passed away in Katy, Texas on June 15, 2022. He lived in Farmington till the age ten when his family moved to Morrow, Arkansas. He graduated from Morrow High School in 1949, then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before joining the Aviation Cadet Program to train as a Navigator/Bombardier. He graduated from the program in1953 with the rank of Second Lieutenant and served three years before leaving active duty in 1956. He also served in the Air Force Reserve until 1972, retiring as a Major.

From 1956 to 1960, he attended the University of Arkansas, graduating with an accounting major. While there, he met and married his wife, Carole. Upon graduation, he joined the accounting firm of Arthur Anderson & Co. where he worked as an auditor until 1966. At the time, he was hired by the international construction firm, Brown & Root, Inc, a subsidiary of Halliburton, Corporation. He then served 22 years in financial management capacities for Halliburton and its subsidiaries, Brown & Root and Highlands Insurance Co.

During his years with Halliburton, he attended night law school at the University of Houston, graduating in 1980. After his retirement from Halliburton he joined the law firm of Pollicoff, Smith and Remels, and its predecessors, and served as Of Counsel for about a dozen years before becoming a solo practioner in Katy, Texas.

Bill was active for many years in the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs with he and Carole serving as a hosts for several national meetings. He also served as President in 1998 and continued on the Board of Directors until his death.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Carole and by their son, Thomas. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Wiesner, two grandsons, Benjamin and Robert Wiesner and one great grandson, Oliver Wiesner,

A graveside will commence on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 9am, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
