He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, which he joined in 1951. William graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1950 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma from which he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1961. He worked in the Oil Industry for Zapata Offshore as a Petroleum Engineer, and spent 14 years directly under George H.W. Bush (41st President of the United States). He was in charge of building the very first Offshore Drilling Rig in Australia.
William was the oldest Active Member of VFW Post 4709 in Conroe, Texas. He loved to give back to his community and became a lifetime member of the Montgomery County Fair Association, as well as a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Conroe, Texas. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandy, church member, neighbor, and friend.
William is survived by his children, Michael Keith Glass, and Dawn Rae Glass Wiseman and husband Cary D. Wiseman; grandchildren, Candace Nicole Coleman and husband, Kathryn Golda Hicks and husband, Ollie Hicks, and Caroline Grace Wiseman; great-grandchildren, Luke Coleman, Will Micah Coleman, and Katlie Jolene Hicks. He was preceded in passing by his parents Vivian and Evans Glass, and his wife Leveda Edmoundson Glass, with whom he spent 64 cherished years of marriage.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, July 5th, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Celebration of Life service will commence at 1:00 p.m., after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 where he will be laid to rest with military honors and rejoin his beloved wife.
