She was a founding member of the Stafford school board in 1976 when Stafford broke away from Fort Bend ISD and served until 1985. She was the Chairman of the Stafford Bicentennial Celebration in 1976 and served in that capacity for ten years. July 4, 1986, was declared Willaine Elliott Day in Stafford. She was active at church and in her sons’ Scouting and sports organizations, serving, among other things, as den mother, soccer coach, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, and choir director.
Willaine taught school for ten years and worked as a realtor for the last decade. She enjoyed playing 42, cooking desserts, watching Dancing with the Stars, and playing the piano. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family, and they will dearly miss her.
