Victoria Kanakis was born March 19, 1928 in Barberton, OH, and moved while very young to Pittsburgh, PA. There, she attended Peabody High School and married Nicholas Harry Harrison on Oct. 24, 1954 in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. After marriage, they attended Dormission of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Oakmont, PA. When Gulf Oil transferred Nick to Texas in 1968, she and their three young boys were swept to Houston where they continued building their remarkable collection of lifelong friends.
Vikki’s sweet, loving demeanor set the tone for the Harrison household, which became something of a social hub in their Westbury neighborhood. In her roles as mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, loyal friend, artist and hostess nonpareil, she touched innumerable lives with her warm, generous spirit.
She is survived by brother Peter Kanakis, sons Frank Gregory Harrison, James Michael Harrison and Thomas Freeman Harrison, their wives, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Vikki will be missed beyond belief by her family and large circle of friends, all of whom loved her dearly.
