Victor was born June 4, 1949, in Milwaukee, WI to parents Victor Horvath and Anastasia “Stella” Horvath. He grew up in Franklin, WI, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1967.
On June 21, 1969, he married Linda Shrode; they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Following high school, Victor joined the United States Navy and served as a Seabee (MCB-3) from 1967 to 1971. He was stationed in Port Hueneme, California; Okinawa, Japan; and in Da Nang, Vietnam. After his discharge, he relocated from California to Texas where he began a 45-year career in the construction and fabricated sheet metal industry. Victor was a member of the International Sheet Metal Workers International Association.
Through his two sons, Victor became an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in a variety of roles within the Sam Houston Area Council on a troop, district, and council level. Victor had a passion for scouting and the principles the program was based upon. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 1003 in Missouri City and helped numerous young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His service to scouting has been recognized and awarded by the Sam Houston Area Council.
After retirement, Victor derived great enjoyment by spending time with his family and his six grandchildren, fishing along the Gulf Coast, and his passion for woodworking. He was an incredibly talented woodworker and would spend what seemed like endless hours designing, creating, and building projects in his shop.
Victor is preceded in death by his mother, Stella Horvath, and his father Victor Horvath. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Missouri City; sons, Michael (Elyssa) Horvath of Houston, TX and Randall (Jessica) Horvath of Bryan, TX; daughters, Bonnie (Chris) Bowen of Cedar Park, TX and Gina (Leland) Sawyer of Uganda; grandchildren, Justin and Truitt Baldwin; Tyler and Savannah Horvath; Ainsley Horvath; and Adalyn Sawyer; brothers, Richard Horvath of West Allis, WI. and Paul (Dianne) Haustowich of Waukesha, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the staff at Houston Methodist Hospital Sugar Land. All have provided excellent care and great compassion for Victor.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, at American Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 10 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Victor will be interred at the United States National Cemetery in Houston.
