Victor Christopher Fontenot, known to many as "Uncle Boo," was born on December 3, 1959, in
Houston, Texas. A cherished member of the community, he was called to his eternal rest on August 24,
2023, at St. Luke's Health ‐ Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, TX.
Victor's life was a testament to his love for family, faith, and community. His roots ran deep in the 5th
Ward of Houston, Texas, where he embraced the spirit of his hometown with pride. His formaƟve years
were spent at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School, John L. McReynolds Middle School and then Phillis
Wheatley High School, from which he graduated in 1978. Victor's presence on the football field was that
of a Wheatley Wildcat, embodying determination and passion.
An ardent supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Victor's devotion to the team was only matched by his
devotion to his Catholic faith. He found strength, solace, and guidance in his spiritual beliefs. To his
family, he was a beloved brother to Veronica Fontenot‐Jammer, Bernadette [Keith] Fontenot‐Taylor,
Deborah Taylor, Lawrence Phillip Fontenot Jr and brother‐in‐law, Edgar Jammer Sr.
Uncle Boo’s impact reached further through his relationships with his nephew Edgar [Carla] Jammer Jr.,
nieces Erikka Jammer and Stephanie Johnson, as well as great nephews Darius Jammer, Anthony
Newhouse, Erik Jammer, Jacob Jammer, and Adrian Newhouse.
Victor's warmth, laughter, and loving nature earned him the affectionate title of "Uncle Boo." He was not
only an uncle to his family but a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him as Boo. Beyond his
passion for football, his love for fishing, his two cats, Dewey & Chewey, and gardening were a source of
joy and reflection.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Lawrence Fontenot Sr., his brother Anthony (Tony)
Fontenot, and his sister Dense Taylor. As we bid farewell to Victor, we hold onto the cherished memories
and the impact he left on each of our lives.
A visitation for Victor will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 8:00am to 10:am @ Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church located at 4000 Sumpter St, Houston, TX 77020. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Victor's life will be followed immediately afterwards, his final resting place will be at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
In his memory, let us carry forward the lessons of love, faith, and community that Victor demonstrated
throughout his life. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever reside in the hearts
he touched.
Rest in peace, Uncle Boo. Your legacy lives on through the lives you've enriched and the love you've
shared.
