Timothy Richard “Tim” Brown was born on the 19th of August 1946. On Friday evening, the 10th of November 2023, Tim reached out from the loving arms of his wife Suzanne to the eternal arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tim was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Nell Wood Brown and Sequoyah Hunt Brown. His family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana at age five. His family then moved to Houston when Tim was 15, and he graduated in the first graduating class from Robert E. Lee High School in 1964. He attended Stanford University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1968. In 1970 he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.
On the 27th of December 1969, Tim married Suzanne Schindler. Having met on a double blind date, Tim fell for his friend’s date, Suzanne Schindler, and Suzanne fell for Tim. Thus began a magical love story, and it has never ended. Even after 54 years of marriage, every night was “date night.” Soon the two became five as Tim and Suzanne welcomed into the world Tiffani Elizabeth Brown, Allyson Poppy Brown and Laura Piper Brown.
Tim was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Having spent his married life among four women, he was pleased to welcome grandsons Barrett Colby Jinks, Preston Burke Jinks, and Wesley Paris Schrauff. He was blessed by his family.
Tim had a ready, genuine smile and a warm greeting for everyone, and he had a sincere interest in others. He combined an independent and stubborn nature with a patient and forgiving heart. He was a man of integrity particularly in tough situations.
Tim was a man’s man and an outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and time at their family ranch. Colorado was a special escape for Tim and Suzanne – golf and snow skiing and always friends.
Tim practiced law for more than fifty years in Houston, and he had a deep dedication to his work. He always wanted to learn more and to grow more. He began his practice at Andrews, Kurth, Campbell and Jones as an associate. He branched off and started his own firm, Baker, Brown, Sharman and Wise. This evolved into Brown, Parker and Leahy. The firm was later acquired by Thomson Knight, LLC. Later he became legal counsel for Moody Law Group, PLLC, Southstar Bank and Southern BancShares.
Tim belonged to the American Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Real Estate Lawyers Council, the Texas Bar Foundation, the Houston Bar Foundation, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Bank Counsel, the State Bar of Texas Subcommittee on Legal Fees Paid by Title Companies. He was a member and Author of the Chapter on Financing in the Texas Homebuyers Manual, 1985, State Bar of Texas.
