In humble remembrance, we gather today to honor the life of Sylvia Garza, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord. On September 28, 2023, at the age of 53, Sylvia peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on February 10, 1970, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She embraced a life of gratitude, her journey was a testament to her resiliency, compassion for others, and unwavering dedication. She approached every endeavor with humility, acknowledging the blessings bestowed upon her and the responsibility to use her gifts to uplift those around her. Her warm smile, etched in our memories, was a reflection of the love and kindness she shared with the world.
Guided by the loving teachings of her mother, Andrea Cruz, and the late Herculano Cruz, Sylvia's faith illuminated her path. She found solace and spiritual nourishment at Holy Name Catholic Church, where she humbly worshiped alongside her community and sought guidance in her journey. Her unwavering belief in God's plan provided her with strength and comfort in times of both joy and sorrow.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Garza, and their three daughters, Annette, Jeanette, and Gabriela, as well as her son, Gilbert A. Garza. She is also survived by her mother, Andrea Cruz, and her brothers, Juan, Jose, Fernando, Ricardo, and Tony Cruz. Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Herculano Cruz, and two sisters, Clementina Trevino, and Felicita Chin.
Throughout her life, Sylvia achieved great success in her career as a Health Administrator/Coordinator. She dedicated herself to helping others and making a positive impact in the healthcare field.
Sylvia's life was adorned with diverse interests that brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity. She found solace in painting, indulged in the beauty of DIY arts and crafts, contributed to meaningful causes through event fundraising, explored the wonders of travel, and found tranquility in the art of crocheting. These passions nurtured her spirit and reflected her appreciation for the beauty of creation.
Family and friends, we invite you to join us in honoring Sylvia's life. A visitation will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church, located at 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009, on October 9, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The rosary, a sacred time of prayer and reflection, will commence at 6:00 p.m. On October 10, 2023, from 10:30-11:30 am, the Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church, where we will gather to celebrate Sylvia's life, offer our prayers, and find solace in the embrace of our faith. Following the Funeral Mass, the Committal Service will take place at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, from 12:00-12:30 pm, as we bid farewell to Sylvia's earthly presence.
