Susan Annette Pipkin was born on April 22, 1959 in Houston, Texas, to Kenneth and Kathleen Buras. She was the fourth daughter born in the family, even though the doctor told Kenneth each time it would be a boy. The doctor finally got it right the fifth time.
Susan loved life infectiously, and her fun loving laughter showed that to all who knew her. Even more, she loved the Lord God “with all of her heart and with all of her mind, and with all of her might”. She was the most dedicated “Prayer Warrior”, spending time with the Lord daily and praying for the needs of so many others.
After high school, she began college at Houston Baptist University while working. In the summer of 1980 she met her soul mate, Lynn A. Pipkin. They were married on May 15, 1981. It was a marriage centered on Jesus Christ that lasted beyond 36 years. Shortly after marriage, they both felt the Lord leading them back to College Station, TX so Lynn could finish his degree. Susan quickly got plugged into the University where she worked making lifelong friends along the way. At last she completed her Associated Degree towards Education at Tyler Junior College in 1993. Throughout the years of living in College Station, Tyler, Austin and Arlington, she always became involved in church and teaching children. As she began her last course work at the University of Texas in Tyler, a long awaited surprise came. She was pregnant with her daughter, Katelyn Ruth Pipkin, after being told she would never be able to have children. Life changed drastically and she focused her teaching talents on homeschooling Katelyn through fifth grade. As her daughter grew older she began teaching and working at Fielder Road Baptist Church and most recently at Champion Forest Baptist Church.
Susan was predeceased by her father, grandmother, and grandfather.
She is survived by her husband Lynn A. Pipkin and her daughter Katelyn Ruth Pipkin.
She is also survived by her mother, Kathleen Buras, her siblings: Ruth McCurdy, Mary Helen Buras, Patti Jones, and Kenneth Buras and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins too numerous to list, but just as precious.
