Stephen Elliott Bolton of League City, Texas passed away on July 22nd in Friendswood, Texas, at the age of 77. He was born September 29, 1944, in San Diego, California on the Naval Base where his father was in the Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold Elliott Bolton and Madge Stevens Bolton of Overland Park, Kansas, and his recently deceased grandson, Carson Matthew Bolton of League City, TX.
Steve graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, and Pittsburg State University in Kansas. He was married to his lifelong love, Cecilia Vargas Bolton, of Colombia, South America for 54 years. He was stationed for 3 years at Ft. Lee, VA during the Vietnam War. He then moved his family to Miami, Cincinnati, and Houston where he served as a non-profit Executive for more than 45 years, at the YMCA, Open Door Mission, LaRosa Family Services, College of Biblical Studies, and Career Recovery Resources.
He was an active member of Calvary Church Houston, Sigma Chi Fraternity, Rotary Club, Perry YMCA Volunteer fundraiser, and the Clear Lake Bridge Club. Steve was a true community leader who had a lifelong passion and calling for helping improve the lives of underserved people in our communities through housing, job training, financial development, strengthening individuals and families, while guiding people towards Christ Jesus.
Steve was a lifelong learner who enjoyed studying the Bible, spending time with his family, listening to podcasts, traveling, playing bridge, playing tennis, and watching basketball and tennis. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Vargas Bolton, son Bryan Bolton, daughter Melissa Bolton Hickman, son in law Darby Hickman, and grandsons Mekiah and Zane Hickman, and Garner and Hudson Bolton, all of League City, Texas.
He is also survived by his sister Nancy Bolton Swartz, brother-in-law Don Swartz of Freeman, Missouri sister Barbara Bolton Davidson of Moorehead, Minnesota and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters, and brothers in law residing throughout the United States and Colombia.
Steve’s memorial service will be held on Fri, August 5th at 11am, at Calvary Church Houston, located at 3700 FM 528, Friendswood, TX, 77546, followed thereafter by a 1:45pm burial service at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
