Stephanie Braschelle McCardell Barnes was born to Milton and Roanna McCardell on May 10,1959 in Houston TX. Stephanie confessed hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of her late grandfather Rev. A.A. McCardell Sr. at Pleasant Grove MBC. She later joined her uncle Rev. A.A. McCardell Jr. at Israel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active participant in any capacity she was needed. After many years, Stephanie joined Greater Mt. Zion under the leadership of Rev. D. Joseph. Stephanie graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1977 and then attended the University of Houston. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Barnes on Feb.14,1981, where she gained her first daughter. From the marriage 3 children were born. After the homegoing of her sister in 1993, Stephanie became a mother of 5 and was devoted to the nurturing and rearing of her children. She also dedicated a countless amount of time tending to her mother until she was no longer physically able to due to her failing health. Stephanie was family oriented even through her illness. Before her health started to deteriorate, she would always take her mother and grandchildren to Golden Corral, their favorite spot to eat. She was loyal, giving, and honest. She gave it to you exactly how it was! Stephanie is preceded in death by her father Milton McCardell, sister Versie Thompson, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Rev A.A. McCardell Sr., and Claire and Willie Batiste. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, mother Roanna McCardell, children Kristi Moore, Kenneth Barnes, Jr.(Veldonna), Kevin Barnes(Connie), Kerry Barnes(Tay), and Roanna Bridges. She also leaves her heartbeats, Keriyana, Keyara, Kameron, Deriana, Kaydon, Kiyann, and Kerry Jr. Stephanie likewise, leaves behind to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as her godchildren Sh'vonne Johnson and George Collins. Dear to her heart, Stephanie leaves behind two special honorary daughters, Shermeria Gourley and Mikel Curley.
