Shirley Rankine Vaughn passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in her home in Houston, Texas on June 22, 2015.
Shirley was born in Terrell, Texas but spent most of her childhood and teen years growing up in Austin, Texas where she also attended The University of Texas and met her future lifelong husband Herman (Herky) Vaughn Jr. Although Shirley spent much of her adulthood serving as a volunteer at Memorial City Hospital her true passion was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley was always an unselfish caregiver to her husband, four boys, and six grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and two oldest sons Herman (Trey) Vaughn III and George Michael Vaughn. Surviving family members include her sons Robert Lee and his wife Shirley, Scott Edward and his wife Sharon; Daughter-in-law Susan; grandchildren Nicholas and his wife Nicole, Jessica Menefee and her husband Thornton Menefee, Chris, James, Preston and Alexis.
