On September 19, Shirley married the love of her life, Thomas E. Smith Jr., in Houston, embarking on a beautiful journey together filled with love and laughter. A dedicated member of the Houston Rodeo, she found joy in volunteering and fostering a deep appreciation for the community. Shirley was known for her warm spirit and was happiest surrounded by her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her beloved brother, Gary Albrecht; her grandchildren, Savannah Lee and Stephen Thompson V; and her great-grandchildren, Addison Lee and Bryson Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eugene Smith Jr.; her son, Thomas Leroy Smith; her daughter, Gloria Ann Thompson; her parents, Ervin H. Albrecht and Nobie M. Hill; and her brother, Ervin H. Albrecht Jr.
Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, her love for puzzles, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10 am at Heights Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
