Shirley Hightower

She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Hightower, her parents, John and Iva Robertson Sr., brother, John “Sonny” Robertson Jr., nephew, John “Corky” Robertson III, son-in-law, Joe Rosas, and her greatest feline love, Opie Cat.

She is survived by her daughters Jerri S. Stepp and husband, Joe, Kaylah Zbranek-Rosas, and Tonya Eversole and husband, John. Her grandchildren are Bethany Lemmons and husband, Jeremy, Jordan Stepp and wife, Meghan, Somerton Zbranek, Tyler Eversole, Kendall Eversole, Amber Coleman, and Joshua Dorrell and wife Tiffany. Great-grandchildren are Gavin Stepp, Scarlett Stepp, Braelyn Lemmons, and Henley Lemmons. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Robertson and nieces, Linda Choate and Terri Peterson. Special extended family include: Wes and Mary Dorrell and Alan Stepp.

Shirley was retired having worked for Baker Hughes in accounting and finance for 25 years. She was an Eastern Star with a lifetime membership having become a Rainbow girl at 16 years old. She volunteered in the hospitality room at the Pasadena Rodeo for over 10 years. She loved cowboy butts and never met a pair of Wranglers she didn’t like. One of her greatest joys was riding shot-gun all over the United States with her cousin, Laura Gayle, doing hot shot delivery. Her hobbies included adult coloring, reading, embroidery, and bingo. She was a fierce Dr. Pepper drinker and never get between her and a tube of Pringles. Her greatest pride was the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and had a smile for all. She is missed beyond words and the legacy of her love will always live in our hearts.

We would like to thank Dr. Souheil Haddad, Vantage Hospice, and the staff of Baywood Crossing Rehabilitation Center. Their unceasing care and dedication to her will be remembered. Viewing and time of reflection is Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM with formal services at the Chapel of Angels, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Both events will be held at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston Texas 77023.
