Sandra (Sandy) Sue Newton was born on March 25, 1950 and went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2019, on the very day of her 49th wedding anniversary. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed by all. She was such a blessing to all who knew her.
She attended grammar school and high school in Pratt, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Sandy worked at the United States Air Force recruiting office, and finally joined the United States Air Force herself in 1968. Her dream was to be a nurse, and the military gave her that opportunity. After basic training and technical school she was assigned to the 855th Medical Group at Barksdale Air Force near Shreveport, Louisiana. She was assigned to the OB ward, where she said she had the wonderful opportunity to actually help deliver many babies. She said she felt that was her greatest career accomplishment.
She was married to Dennis Joseph Woytek for exactly 49 years. Sandy was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and had a passion for ministries and working with babies.
Sandy is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Woytek; their sons, Bart and Bryon Woytek; their grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Breanna, Allison, and Emily Woytek; her brother Eddie Newton. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister Sharon Mercer.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 25, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church, 5901 Fry Road, Katy, Texas 77449 with a reception to follow. A gathering will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. A committal service will take place at 12:30 pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where Sandy will be laid to rest.
