Sandra "Sandy" Nixon Kennard died on Sunday, the 26th of July 2015. She was born to Paul Harper and Frances St. Clair in Lubbock, Texas the 30th of June 1941. Her first home was the "married couple's Dorm" on the campus of Texas Tech. The family moved to Seymour, Texas where a sister, Dena Nixon Buck, and brother, Weldon Glen Nixon were born. Sandy graduated from McAllen High School in 1959.
Most of her life was devoted to youth, especially her two daughters Kimberly Kennard Wilson and Melissa Kennard Flower. When they were older she earned a bachelor's degree from Houston Baptist University and a master's degree with certification as an Educational Diagnostician from the University of St. Thomas. She addressed the needs of special children in HISD for eleven years. In later life it was her four grandchildren Peter Anthony Blessinger, Ashley Marie Wilson, Jack Alan Flower and Joshua Andrew Flower. Her grandchildren, nieces, nephew, family and friends were very dear and close to her heart.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 31st of July at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston. Immediately following all are invited to greet the family in the adjacent fellowship hall.
