Ruby “Joyce Sykes, went to be in the arms of the Lord on November 25, 2010. Joyce was born to W.T. and Stella Kelly on June 30th, 1943. She was an active member of First Baptist Church North Houston for 38 years. Her greatest accomplishment was serving the Lord, including helping to organize many functions, church choir, and being a Sunday school teacher. Her biggest joy and achievement was being a wife, mother, and the very best grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, W.T. and Stella Kelly; grandson, Devon Nicholas Sykes. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bill Sykes Sr. sons, Dr. Bill Sykes Jr. and wife Tamara; and William Brian Sykes; brother, Thomas Kelly and wife Kaye; granddaughter, Rianne Sykes; nieces, Jennifer and Candice and nephew Mark. Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Monday, November 29th at First Baptist Church of North Houston, 4422 Lauder Rd. Houston, TX 77039. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church.
